2023 Faculty Awards

Hallie Jay Pope, Shannon Jones, and Amos Guiora

Professor Pope came to the University of Utah to develop the Creative Advocacy Lab (CAL), an experiential course dedicated to promoting access to justice and democratizing legal information. Professor Jones turns her passion for food access and justice into action. All of Professor Jones’s letters of support mentioned her deep commitment to community work. Epitomizing community-engaged scholarship, Professor Guiora’s path-breaking research and writing on Bystanders and Enablers in sexual assaults has had both direct and indirect impacts on survivors worldwide.

Ana Carolina Antunes, Leticia Alvarez Gutierrez, and Steve Bartlett

Professor Antunes has demonstrated sustained commitment to community engaged pedagogy centered on gender and sexuality education for youth in our west-side communities. Professor Alvarez Gutiérrez has spent her career innovating and implementing equity-focused family-school partnerships and conducting community-based research. Professor Bartlett has an impressive record of facilitating meaningful hands-on experiences for students that meet real public need.

2021 Faculty Awards

Milad Hosseini-Mozari and Cathleen Zick

Professor Hosseini-Mozari is utilizing this award to launch an innovation hub between the Multi Disciplinary Design Program, College of Architecture + Planning, and the International Rescue Committee (IRC). During her 39 years of teaching and scholarship at the University of Utah, Cathleen Zick served as Director of the Masters in Public Policy Program, the Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Science, and as Department Chair of Family and Consumer Studies.

2020 Faculty Awards

Christopher Mead and Andrew Merryweather

Professor Christopher Mead utilized this award to introduce for-credit University of Utah programming to the Utah State Prison. Andrew Merryweather has established an exceptional research program in musculoskeletal injury biomechanics, and has spent his life promoting safety and health in the workplace and in improving the quality of life for those with complex disabilities.
