Faculty Awards

 Faculty are invited to apply for the following awards recognizing research, excellence in the classroom, and passion for strengthening communities. These awards are managed by the Community Engaged Learning unit. Please contact cel@utah.edu with any questions.

Public Service Professorship

This significant award is designed to help a faculty member strengthen community-engaged learning experiences and opportunities tied to civic engagement, and also foster stronger partnerships with the local community. It is open to all faculty members at the University of Utah. The prize funds of $7,500 may be used in any way that enables the recipient to carry out the proposed project.

Distinguished Faculty Service Award

The Distinguished Faculty Service Award honors faculty members who have demonstrated sustained commitment to the campus-community connection through a life of active, unpaid community service and the integration of service with research and teaching. Dr. David and Susan Jabusch generously donate $1,000 to the non-profit community organization of the award winner's choice.

Community Engaged Teaching and Scholarship Award

The CES Award recognizes and rewards a University of Utah faculty member of any rank for high quality work that integrates teaching, research and community engagement. The award recognizes faculty who show a record of successful teaching and research that is carried out through long-term, collaborative community-engaged partnerships that address a community-identified need or priority.

CBR Partnership Formation Grant Program

The goal of the Community Based Research (CBR) Partnership Formation Grant Program is to build and foster new relationships between community-based and campus-based partners.

CBR Project Implementation Grants

Community Based Research (CBR) Project Implementation Grants are designed to support projects that are based in an established partnership with community partners and have been designed in collaboration with partners.

Presidential Societal Impact Scholar Award

Faculty selected as Presidential Societal Impact Scholars engage in work with high potential to benefit the public. They translate their ideas, scholarship, research and creative activities to non-academic audiences outside the university in ways that transform society. These scholars have a positive influence on people and institutions. They help make our world a better, more equitable place — one where all can thrive.
